The twin music stars, Peter and Paul Okoye of P-Square Records have voiced out that if they did not part ways in their music careers, other Nigerian artists who have risen to stardom would not have dominated the afrobeat music scene.
The duo made the shocking news on a recent episode of The 77 Podcast.
They explained that they had dominated Nigeria afrobeat for over a decade and had to part ways for freshers to rise.
Reacting to claims that afrobeat gained global recognition when they were apart, Peter said, “Says who? They never said that.”
Paul opined that God has his ways of doing things and that their separation led other Nigerian artists to rise to recognition.
In his words, “Let me tell you something, I’ve been hearing that. Even if they put it that way, it means some way God has his way. If we were there [together in the music industry] those people [dominant music stars] there would have never been light for them. And don’t forget, we’ve dominated the [Nigerian] music industry for a long time. We held it down for nearly 13,14 years.”
