Commuters on the Keffi-Abuja expressway faced significant delays on Monday as military personnel set up a stop-and-search operation, effectively blocking the route into the capital.
According to DailyTrust, the roadblock, located at Sani Abacha Barracks before the AYA roundabout, resulted in a traffic jam that stretched back to Nyanya Bridge, over 12 kilometers from the checkpoint.
The security measure, implemented without prior notice, impacted numerous civil servants and traders who reside in areas such as Nyanya, Karu, Maraba, and Masaka but commute to work in the Federal Capital Territory.
Many were forced to abandon their commutes and return home after hours of being stuck in traffic.
This development comes just days before a planned nationwide protest on August 1, organized by youths to address the escalating cost of living and economic difficulties in Nigeria.
