The Polytechnic, Ibadan, popularly called Ibadan Poly, has released a morality code that bans pregnant students and nursing mothers from bringing babies to classrooms and hostels, opposite sex hugging in public, driving tinted vehicles and many others.
The Polytechnic’s decision was made known to the public in a morality code signed by its governing council, where it listed various immoral and indecent acts with corresponding consequences for such.
The spokesman of the institution, Adewole Soladoye, confirmed the strict morality code, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.
He said, “The school is not a nursing home. Is it right to bring babies into lecture rooms? It is definitely a distraction.
“They are free to have babies. But they should look for a childcare facility for their babies.”
The school governing council said graduating certificates would only be issued to students “upright” in their academic pursuit and moral conducts, hence, students are to shun immoral and indecent acts.
The institution’s official memo which was titled: ‘THE POLYTECHNIC, IBADAN, INDECENT DRESSING/POSTURE NOTICE TO NEW AND RETURNING STUDENTS’, read:
