The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, has revealed a plan to appeal the ruling of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, which exonerated the former Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, Prof. Adedibu Ojerinde, on the application of civil rights claim filed by him, over his arrest, detention and trial, on the case of misappropriation of N900m, by the commission.
The disclosure was made in a statement issued by the commission
Punch Metro had reported that ICPC received fines of N1m as damages and N200,000 for the arrest and detention of the former JAMB boss, for alleged corrupt practices.
Reacting to the development through the statement issued, the commission expressed disappointment with the ruling, noting that it will appeal the judgement in no distant time.
The Commission claimed to have secured a valid warrant issued by the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court on the 6th of December, 2022.
ICPC arrested Prof. Ojerinde for misappropriation of N900m in 2021 and re-arrested him on the order issued by the Chief Judge of the High Court, Justice John Tsoho, on an ex-parte application brought by the commission in January 2023.
