The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has commenced a comprehensive project tracking initiative aimed at overseeing more than 70 executive and constituency projects valued at N7.3 billion across Borno State, Nigeria.
According to The PUNCH, the Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, initiated this project tracking endeavor, emphasizing the importance of transparency and the prevention of fraudulent practices in the execution of these budget-appropriated projects.
Principal Superintendent Abubakar Gujja, from the Borno State office of the ICPC, highlighted the objectives of this initiative during an exercise held at the Maiduguri Dental and Eye Hospital.
He stated, “The aim is to ensure satisfactory completion and usage of the projects appropriated.”
According to him, the extensive exercise is scheduled to last for two weeks, during which ICPC officials will scrutinize the progress and compliance of these projects.
He further stated that in cases where discrepancies or infractions are detected during the tracking, recommendations will be included in an official report.
These recommendations may involve requiring contractors to return to the project site or suggesting the recovery of funds paid for the contract.
