Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has issued orders for the posting of newly promoted Assistant Inspector Generals of Police following their recent elevation.
According to The PUNCH, the Police Service Commission had promoted 684 senior officers on August 30, with eight AIGs among them.
Among those redeployed by the IG are AIG Mohammed Ali, AIG Fayoade Mustapha, AIG Julius Okoro, and AIG Benneth Igweh. According to a statement released by Force Public Relations Officer Muyiwa Adejobi, the four AIGs will now serve as Zonal AIGs in Zones 1, 2, 4, and 7, respectively.
Before their promotion, both Igweh and Fayoade held the prestigious roles of Commissioners of Police in Lagos and Abuja, overseeing crucial policing activities in Nigeria’s two largest cities.
Additionally, AIG Sulaiman Mohammed has been assigned the role of AIG in charge of Police Accounts and Budget. Adejobi further outlined the new postings of several Commissioners of Police including CP Ibrahim Balarabe, who will now head Western PAP, CP Olabode Adeleye who moves to CP Intelligence FID FHQ in Abuja, and CP Felix Oben, now assigned to the Anti-Fraud Unit at FCID Annex, Enugu State.
In a ceremony marking their elevation, eight AIGs and 15 CPs were decorated by the IG. The newly decorated CPs include Innocent Ifeanyi Emenari, Betty Otimenyin, James Nwokolo, Felix Oben, Olusegun Eyitayo, Ugobueze Ogbodo, Ohagwu Ndukwe, Taylor Olarewaju, Sa’adatu Ismaila, Olabode Akinbamilowo, Regina Udoette, Francis Gbiwen, Afolabi Olatokunbo, Ohiozoba Ehiede, and Anthonia Adaku Uche-Anya.
In his address to the newly promoted officers, IG Egbetokun emphasized the importance of their roles as representatives of the Nigeria Police Force.
He stated, “The Inspector-General of Police, while congratulating the newly promoted officers, reiterates that every one of them is an ambassador of the Nigeria Police Force and charged them to discharge the schedules of their new ranks within the dictates of the rule of law and citizens’ expectations as the Nigeria Police Force keeps working towards a safer country for all citizenry.”
This recent promotion marks a significant step in the career advancement of these officers, with expectations that they will continue to uphold the integrity and objectives of the force in their new capacities.
