Former president Olusegun Obasanjo has expressed sadness over the death ot Iyalode of Yorubaland, Alaba Lawson, who died on Saturday.
Obasanjo expressed his condolence in a release by his media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, on Saturday, saying that the late educationist contributed immensely to the development of Nigeria in general.
“Iyalode Lawson lived a worthwhile life, and she did well in life. I knew she had been down, but I don’t really know the cause,” he said.
He said Lawson was a fantastic human being and a no-nonsense person, saying that she was hardworking and had a very generous personality.
The former president recalled that he honoured Lawson with a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic national award for her contributions to the economic growth of the country and community development.
“I will miss her sorely,” Obasanjo stated.
