Over 280 people have been reported killed after three trains were said to have derailed in on Friday in India.
According to The British Broadcasting Corporation, one of the passenger train derailed and its coaches fell on to the adjacent track where they were struck by an incoming trainm
Indian Railways said the two services involved were the Coromandel Express and the Howrah Superfast Express.
Officials first reported 288 deaths, which was later revised down to 238 by director general of Odisha Fire Services Sudhanshu Sarangi.
However, the death toll is likely to grow as rescuers worked tirelessly on Saturday morning to free passengers believed to be trapped under the debris.
State chief secretary Pradeep Jena stated that more than two hundred ambulances and hundreds of medical professionals and rescue workers had been dispatched to the area in Balasore district.
Drone footage from the scene of the disaster shows that some of the coaches have become dislodged from the train and have tipped to one side, while others have been totally toppled.
