The Indonesian government has pledged support to help Nigeria achieve significant growth in milk and meat production, targeting a 60% and 40% increase respectively over the next five years.
The Indonesian Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr. Usra Harahap, revealed this during a courtesy visit to Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State in Birnin Kebbi on Friday.
Harahap emphasized that the visit aimed to strengthen bilateral ties between Indonesia, Nigeria, and Kebbi State.
“This visit aims to boost the earlier collaboration between the Kebbi government and Indonesian government on artificial insemination and embryo transfer,” Harahap stated.
He highlighted plans to establish modern breeding facilities, a development fund, and a milk and meat processing unit.
Additionally, the partnership will introduce a sustainable pasture system to enhance livestock productivity, with the goal of achieving the projected increases within five years.
In response, Governor Idris, represented by Deputy Governor Alhaji Umar Abubakar-Tafida, expressed gratitude to the Indonesian government for its continued support to the state.
