The Nigerian Army says it would monitor the video posted by Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho.
This was disclosed by the Director Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. ES Buba.
The army spokesperson said the army welcomes any idea that would assist in curbing criminality in the country.
He said, “A video by Sunday Igboho, well I have not seen that video, I will take my time to look for that video. But one thing I can say is the military has always welcomed alternative ideas, we have always welcomed communities, stakeholders to come with ideas on how we change the situation and make it better.
“If what he’s saying is to make the situation better, if what he’s saying is to disregard the Armed Forces of Nigeria, then definitely he’s out of line because that is against the constitution.
“When I watch that video, it will answer the question appropriately.”
It would be recalled that the Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho has in a viral video said said that he is ready to face and chase out killer herdsmen from Yorubaland.
Adeyemo said this in a video that went viral on Tuesday where he was seen addressing some people who were cheering him following the burial of his mother in his hometown, Igboho area of Oyo State.
According to the activist who spoke in Yoruba, the Federal Government and the soldiers deployed to Yorubaland, especially to Ekiti where monarchs were killed in broad daylight cannot combat the supposed killers.
He said, “I want you all to stand with me so that we can liberate ourselves from the herders encroaching on our lands. Let us mount security in all the Yoruba lands ourselves, if not, they will take our lands.”
The Army spokesperson added that the army will do everything in its power to deal decisively with terrorists, violence extremist and other enemies of the country.
“What we know how to do best is to go after the enemy and the adversary. The enemy in this case are the terrorists, the violent extremist and anyone who constitute himself, herself, as a group a community whatsoever hindering the safety and security of citizens you are enemy, you are adversary we go after you.
“Whether or not discussions are taking place in the background for people to surrender or whatever that one no concern us.”
