The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria has secured an agreement with Dangote Refinery for direct product distribution.
This move, expected to stabilize prices and improve accessibility nationwide, was announced by IPMAN’s National President, Abubakar Garima, at a press briefing in Abuja on Monday.
Following a meeting of IPMAN’s National Working Committee, Garima confirmed the partnership after months of negotiations.
“After discussions with Aliko Dangote and his management team in Lagos, I’m pleased to announce that Dangote Refinery will now supply PMS, AGO, and DPK directly to IPMAN for distribution to our depots and retail outlets,” he stated.
According to Garima, the agreement would not only streamline product delivery but also positively impact the nation’s foreign exchange reserves by reducing reliance on imported petroleum products.
“This collaboration underscores the importance of backward integration in our economy. By sourcing white products domestically, IPMAN members will support job creation and the federal government’s vision for a more resilient Nigeria,” he added.
Garima urged IPMAN members to align with Dangote Refinery and Nigerian refineries to help reduce operational costs and strengthen the supply chain.
“This partnership will eliminate middlemen, reduce costs, and ensure a steady, affordable supply of fuel products nationwide, creating long-term economic benefits,” he said.
As Africa’s largest refinery, the Dangote facility has commenced the production of petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel, with plans to supply IPMAN’s 30,000 members and 150,000 retail outlets across Nigeria.
