Silvio Berlusconi, the former Italian prime minister, has died at the age of 86.
According to the BBC, he had been suffering from serious health problems and had received treatment in hospital in Rome.
In April he was treated for a lung infection linked to a previously undisclosed case of chronic leukaemia.
Berlusconi returned to San Raffaele last Friday, after a long hospitalisation – 45 days – which ended a few weeks ago.
A flamboyant billionaire media tycoon, Berlusconi first came to office in 1994 and led four government until 2011.
