Actress Trinity Ugonabo has opened up about her experience with sexual harassment in Nollywood.
The thespian, revealed her personal struggle during an appearance on Nollywood on Radio.
When asked about the issue of sexual harassment in the industry, she said, “I have experienced sexual harassment but I won’t go into details. I have definitely and it was really devastating. It was at that point I thought to just give up on the industry like ‘girl look for something else to do’. They come and say ‘do this with me and you get this’. But how many people are you really going to sleep with for real? It then means that one has to literally sleep with someone to get something. I got tired and thought to face my hairstyling and makeup.”
Addressing the impact of the current economic situation on her career, she said, “Everything has to go up. If it doesn’t, it means I will be shooting myself on the leg. My fee has gone up because that is the only way I will be able to manage these hard times. If not, I will probably be begging on the street or probably start a go fund me.”
She also commented on the common perceptions about female producers in Nollywood, stating, “A few people think female producers are mean, not really friendly and all. I think it’s a wrong notion. They think female producers are mean and are too competitive always, particularly amongst themselves.”
