The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has released a total of N397,030,900 as transport allowances for 1,909 officials participating in the upcoming 2025 Mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, scheduled for April 10, 2025.
According to The PUNCH, the announcement was made by JAMB’s Director of Finance, Mr. Mufutau Bello, during a stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja to assess the board’s level of preparedness for both the mock exam and the main UTME.
Bello explained that the disbursement represents the first tranche of payments, catering to only one-third of the officials involved in the nationwide exercise.
“The Mock UTME is a critical part of our commitment to delivering a credible examination process. It reflects our standard of excellence and impacts not only the education sector but the reputation of the country,” Bello stated.
He further stressed that the success of the mock examination would set the tone for the main UTME, highlighting the importance of integrity and professionalism in the conduct of the board’s activities.
“So far, N397,030,900 has been disbursed to cover the transport allowances of 1,909 officials traveling for the mock exam. This figure only represents the first phase of our payment schedule,” he added.
The officials in attendance reaffirmed their dedication to ensuring the smooth conduct of the exams, pledging to uphold transparency and efficiency throughout the process.
Addressing lingering concerns over local travel allowances, the board clarified that such issues are often the result of misunderstandings surrounding the logistics of managing a large-scale, nationwide examination.
