No fewer than two cattle rustlers have been arrested in Jigawa State by officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
The Corps spokesperson in the state, CSC Adamu Shehu, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued to Daily Post.
He explained that the duo, Abdullahi Buba of Garin Dole, Itas/Gadau LGA, Bauchi State, and Alhaji Jubril of Bursari, Dapchi LGA, Yobe State, were arrested on Saturday at 1 am, in Kiyawa Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
He added that the suspects were caught by the owner of the cattle who kept vigil with the view to catching the rustler who had initially stolen cattle from his neighbour.
Meanwhile, four cows were stolen from him and two from his neighbour, Alhaji Hardo, all valued at over N2,000,000.
The suspects confessed to the crime of stealing cows and transporting them to Kano State.
Investigations revealed that Abdullahi, together with his accomplices, have been stealing cows between Kiyawa LGA in Jigawa and Azare town in Bauchi.
The suspects will be charged in court for criminal conspiracy, trespass, intent to steal, and theft after investigations, Shehu added.
