The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Kaduna State Command, has announced the arrest of 110 individuals and the recovery of 520.385 kilograms of illegal substances in May.
NDLEA’s Commander in Kaduna, Mr Samaila Danmalam, shared this information with the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday in Kaduna.
Danmalam revealed, “The command in the month of May arrested 110 suspects comprising 105 males and five females.”
The agency confiscated various illicit substances including cocaine, Indian hemp, Tramadol, and Methamphetamine, among others, totaling 520.385 kilograms in weight.
Danmalam also reported the dismantling of 10 illicit drug joints across the state.
The commander noted that within the same month, the command secured convictions for 12 suspects and arraigned 22 others.
In an effort to address the drug problem in the state, the command also conducted several sensitization programs aimed at educating the public about the dangers of drug use and illegal trafficking, as well as offering counseling and rehabilitation for those dependent on drugs.
“This was with the aim of enlightening the citizenry on the ills associated with drug use and illicit trafficking while simultaneously counselling and rehabilitation of drug dependent persons,” he added.
Danmalam called on the public to reject illicit drug activities and trafficking, and encouraged citizens to provide timely and useful information to help the command fulfill its mandate in the state.
