Harry Kane showcased his exceptional form by netting twice and assisting another goal, propelling Bayern Munich to a dominant 3-0 win over Union Berlin, extending their winning streak in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
Bayern’s clean sheet victory continues an impressive run on the domestic front, where they’ve now won four consecutive games in league and cup competitions without allowing a single goal.
However, their Champions League campaign tells a different tale, with the German giants coming off back-to-back losses — most recently a crushing 4-1 defeat to Barcelona.
Bayern will be eager to turn things around in Europe when they host Benfica on Wednesday.
Kane opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Union’s Michael Olise committed a foul, creating an early lead.
Just before halftime, Kane set up Kingsley Coman, who confidently struck Bayern’s second goal. Kane then added his second and Bayern’s third, edging out teammate Jamal Musiala to connect with Coman’s header at the far post.
Kane’s remarkable goal count now stands at 17 across all competitions this season, with his Bundesliga haul of 11 surpassing the total scored by three other teams in the league, including Union Berlin.
Elsewhere, Eintracht Frankfurt dominated Bochum with a resounding 7-2 victory, climbing to third place behind Bayern and Leipzig.
The game saw two goals from Hugo Ekitike, and an impressive contribution from 18-year-old Can Uzun, who scored almost immediately after coming on as a substitute.
Bochum’s struggles continue, as they remain at the bottom of the table with only one point from nine games, having conceded a staggering 29 goals.
Promoted sides found success on Saturday as well, with Holstein Kiel earning their historic first-ever Bundesliga victory by edging Heidenheim 1-0, while St. Pauli dispatched Hoffenheim 2-0. Meanwhile, Wolfsburg managed a last-minute 1-1 draw against Augsburg, thanks to Mohamed Amoura’s equalizer in the 82nd minute.
Borussia Dortmund, led by coach Nuri Sahin, is under the spotlight with mounting pressure from recent losses as they prepare to face Leipzig later on Saturday.
