Forty-nine suspects in connection with the looting of property at the Triumph Plaza in the Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State have been arrested by the police command.
A statement by the spokesperson for the state police command, SP Abdullahi Haruna, said the suspects were arrested following intelligence gathering.
He said, “On June 4, 2023, we received a report from good Samaritans that some hoodlums in their hundreds were regrouping and planning to loot properties of buildings/structures at Triumph Plaza, Fagge LGA, Kano State.
“On receipt of the report, the state Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Gumel, directed the immediate deployment of teams of Operation Restore Peace to the scene, who on arrival at the scene promptly arrested the suspected looters.
“49 suspects were arrested, and the following looted properties were recovered, three flash doors, flash windows, four LG Air conditioners, eight pieces of polling door iron and 16 heavy duty hammers.”
Haruna advised parents and community leaders to counsel their wards/youths to desist from looting people’s properties.
