Popular Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw, on Tuesday attended the proceedings at the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence court to observe the verdict of the medical director of Optimal Cancer Care Foundation, Dr. Olufemi Olaleye, who stands accused of engaging in sexual misconduct with his wife’s niece.
Olaleye was formally charged with two charges pertaining to the offences of defilement and sexual assault through penetration of his wife’s niece, as filed by the Lagos State government.
The arraignment of the defendant took place on November 30, 2022, during which he entered a plea of not guilty in relation to the charges brought against him.
The incident occurred at the address of No 17, Layi Ogunbambi close, in the state of Lagos, Nigeria.
Doctor Olaleye was charged with inappropriately having sex with his wife’s 15-year-old niece.
He was also charged with forcing his penis into the teenager’s mouth in order to commit a sexual assault.
The prosecution claims that the acts committed in 2015 violated Sections 137 and 261 of the penal code of Lagos State.
After he entered a not guilty plea, Justice Oshodi granted him bail in the amount of N50m with two sureties in the same amount who had to own real estate in Lagos State.
The judge ruled that both sureties must show proof of having paid taxes to the government of Lagos State during the previous three years.
Justice Oshodi further mandated that Olaleye surrender his international passport, including his British passport, as well as the original land title paperwork to the court’s registrar.
Following the trial’s end, the court set today for judgement.
