The operatives of the Katsina State Police Command have prevented a suspected kidnapping attempt and rescued three victims at Gogalo village, in the Jibia Local Government Area of the state.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, State Command Public Relations Officer,, ASP Aliyu Abubakar-Sadiq disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
The statement read, “On November 11, around 10.46 pm, information was received at the Jibia Divisional Police Station that bandits wielding weapons such as AK-47 rifle, shooting sporadically, attacked the village and kidnapped three persons.
“Upon receiving this report, the Divisional Police Officer, Jibia, mobilised a search and rescue team to the scene.
“The team continued to comb the surrounding bushes until November 12. Around 6am, the team succeeded in tracking down the suspected kidnappers, engaging them in a gun duel.
“All the kidnapped victims were successfully rescued unhurt. Efforts are on with a view to arresting the fleeing suspects as the investigation proceeds.”
