Super Eagles and former Leicester City forward, Kelechi Iheanacho is set to join Sevilla as a free agent.
Football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, announced on X that Iheanacho, whose contract with Leicester City expired at the end of last season, has reached an agreement with La Liga club Sevilla for a summer move.
Romano, referencing Plettigoal, indicated that the necessary documents are being prepared, with the deal expected to be finalized in the coming days.
“Sevilla have reached an agreement with Kelechi Iheanacho to join the club as free agent. One more Nigerian signing after Chidera Ejuke, also on free transfer. Documents being prepared as former Leicester City will join the club in the next days, as @Plettigoal reports,” Romano stated.
Iheanacho will join his fellow Nigerian, Chidera Ejuke, who also moved to Sevilla this summer on a free transfer from CSKA Moscow.
During the 2023/2024 season, Iheanacho made significant contributions to Leicester City’s Championship campaign, appearing in 23 games and playing 915 minutes.
He started 10 matches and came off the bench 13 times in the club’s 46 fixtures.
His last appearance for Leicester City was on May 4, playing 12 minutes in a 2-0 loss to Blackburn Rovers. Over the season, he scored five Championship goals and provided one assist, also receiving one yellow card.
Iheanacho’s last goal came in a 3-1 victory against Swansea City on October 21, with his first goal of the campaign occurring in a 2-0 win over Norwich City on September 20.
In the previous season with Leicester City, Iheanacho made 28 Premier League appearances, scoring five goals and providing five assists.
