Kidnapped RCCG pastor regains freedom
The abducted pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Olugbenga Olawore, has regained his freedom.
According to Tribune, Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, made this known on Sunday.
“Our people should rest assured that our security apparatus in the state are fully alive and alert to their responsibilities, the Commissioner said.
The RCCG pastor and and 14 other passengers en route Lagos were reportedly kidnapped while some of the victims were said to have been rescued by the police.
The Commissioner promised that the state government is monitoring and gauging the security situations within its boundary efficiently.
He noted that “The newspaper had correctly reported the kidnapping of the Pastor and few others at the Maya axis of Lanlate-Eruwa road, all within Oyo state boundary.
“Since the incident was reported, government has been in close contact with the state Commissioner of police, Compol Bola Hamzat, his team and our own security teams and all parties have done the needful as usual to ensure the safety of lives and properties of our citizens.”
Oyelade, in a statement he personally signed affirmed that the state remains the most peaceful in the federation.
Meanwhile, it was not clear whether ransom was paid to free the pastor and other abducted passengers as at the time of filing this report.
