The British Royal Family, King Charles III has invited Prince Harry and his wife, Megan Markle, to attend his coronation in May.
According to The Times, this was disclosed by the spokesperson for the couple, who said, “I can confirm The Duke has recently received email correspondence from His Majesty’s office regarding the coronation.”
The invitation comes after the pair had made a number of public criticisms of the British monarchy.
After leaving their position as Senior Royals in 2020, the pair relocated to America. Archie and Lilibet, two children, were born to them after that.
Harry and Megan made shocking allegations of racism against unknown Royal family members in an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021.
In December 2022, the pair published a Netflix documentary documenting their difficult experience as members of the Royal family following their marriage in 2018.
Harry also recently published his autobiography, ‘Spare,’ in which he discussed his strained relationship with his father and elder brother, Prince William.
The article from January 2023 included Harry’s allegations that William assaulted him during a dispute about Meghan and that the incident materially damaged their relationship.
The Duke and Duchess were asked to leave Frogmore Cottage, their residence in Great Britain, over the weekend in what appears to be reprisal by the Royal House.
The King has sent an invitation to the couple to attend the coronation, but it is unclear if they will accept. “An immediate decision on whether The Duke and Duchess will attend will not be disclosed by us at this time,” their spokesperson stated.
