A student at Government Secondary School, Omu Aran, Kwara State, Olukoyede Victor Olushola, achieved a remarkable score of 362 marks in 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, placing him among the top contenders for the highest scorers in the exam.
Despite the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board’s decision not to announce the highest scorer to avoid confusion, Olukayode’s achievement is noteworthy, with scores of 95 in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, and 77 in English Language.
His outstanding performance stands out amidst the backdrop of poor overall performance, with 1.4 million candidates scoring less than 200 marks out of 400.
This exam was taken by over 1.8 million candidates. Olukayode’s success is particularly significant at a time when confidence in public schools is dwindling, while some private schools boast of being the most expensive in the country.
Born in 2009, Olukayode aspires to study Electrical Electronic at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State.
His mother, Beatrice Tosin, attributes his success to his studious and hardworking nature, giving all the credit to God.
