The Head of the Lagbaja Family in Ilobu Kingdom, Osun State, Mr. Demola Lagbaja, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoheed Lagbaja, lamenting that the late COAS never had the chance to enjoy a life beyond his military service.
Speaking on Monday during a condolence visit by the St. Charles Grammar School, Osogbo, Old Boys Association at the Lagbaja family residence in Ibadan, Mr Lagbaja said the family had hoped that the late general would one day retire and reap the benefits of his dedicated service.
“It was our wish that after his tenure, he would return home to enjoy the fruits of his labor,” he said. “But we have to accept God’s will. Some tears will never dry.”
The family head noted that Lagbaja had spent his entire professional life serving the nation, beginning his career after completing his A-level studies at a polytechnic.
“What happened has happened, and we must submit to the will of God,” he added. “We are, however, immensely proud of our son and all he achieved. May he rest in peace.”
The association’s delegation, led by Mr. Sola Omopo, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, presented a condolence letter to the family, celebrating Lagbaja’s contributions to both his alma mater and his country.
“His passing was a tremendous loss for all of us, both here and abroad,” Omopo shared. “He was working on a significant N550 million project for the school, now about 80 percent complete. His dedication to his community and us will not be forgotten.”
Lt. Gen. Taoheed Lagbaja, aged 56, passed away on November 5.
