The Lagos State Police Command, has revealed that it arrested two suspected criminals, a cultist and a land grabber, at the Alagbado area of the state on Monday.
This was contained in a statement issued by the zonal Police Public Relations Officer, SP Hauwa Idris Adamu.
“On July 17, 2023, an intelligence report was received by the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) of the Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos, Ari Mohammed Ali, on some criminals who deal in hard drugs, involved in cultism, and receiving stolen property, by concern citizens.
According to Adamu, a team of detectives from the Zonal Anti-kidnapping unit, who acted on intelligence gathered, tracked and arrested the two suspects, Falana Olamilekan, 40 and Aro Tomiwa, 41, in their hideout at Anikanle Kola Alagbado area of Lagos State.
The statement reads partly, “Based on the information and intelligence received by the AIG, a team of detectives from the Zonal Anti-kidnapping Unit immediately swung into action with the aid of modern technology, tracked and arrested two suspects, Falana Olamilekan, 40, and Aro Tomiwa, 41, in their hideout at Anikanle Kola Alagbado axis of Lagos State.
“The two suspects confessed to the crime of being unlawfully in possession of a local cut-to-size gun, while the principal suspect, Falana (aka Chinko), admitted to be a member of Eiye Confraternity, and that he was initiated by one Shola (aka Solar) in 2019 (but late now).
“The suspect stated further that he bought the gun from one Tunji, whose whereabouts are not known to him, and that he usually buys the gun and cartridges from one Tunde, a son of an OPC member in their community, that he and Tunde did meet on the street. The suspect went further to state that he joined land grabbing business about three months ago and worked directly with Tomiwa Aro, who works under the leadership of Ola-Olu.”
He added that “The second suspect, Tomiwa Aro, also admitted to being a land grabber and that he knew Olamilekan Falana about four months ago. He stated that one-day Falana brought the cut-to-size gun to him for safekeeping because he was afraid of police arrest, hence, he took custody of the gun and kept the gun on the rooftop of his house.”
Adamu explained that the modus operandi of these suspects is to make use of the gun when there is a rival fight with their opponents and land grabbing job.
“Efforts are on top gear to arrest all suspects connected to this crime.
“In the interim, an investigation is still ongoing and the arrested suspects will soon be arraigned upon completion of the investigation,” he said.
