In order to improve mobility in the state, Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to constructing and finishing the Fourth Mainland Bridge.
Speaking on Wednesday at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja, where his second-term cabinet members were sworn in, Sanwo-Olu said his administration would concentrate on constructing Phase 1 of the bridge.
“This Bridge, which will link Ikorodu, Epe and Ibeju-Lekki axes of our state, will further open up the eastern corridor of Lagos, and catalyse economic growth and development for the millions of Lagosians living and working in that area,” he said.
The Lagos State Government’s Fourth Mainland Bridge is a 38-kilometer-long bridge project that connects Lagos Island to Itamaga in Ikorodu through Langbasa (Lekki) and Baiyeku (Ikorodu) across the Lagos Lagoon. The bridge is a cross-sectional road with two lanes on each side with room for a bus rapid transit lane and future road construction. It is planned to become Africa’s second-longest bridge.
