Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, has praised an operative of the Nigeria Police Force, Mr. Daniel Amah, for rejecting a $200,000 bribe.
According to The PUNCH, Amah hails from Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State.
It was also gathered that he joined the police as a Cadet Inspector in 2002, and is currently serving as a Divisional Police Officer in Bompai Police Station, Nasarawa LGA of Kano State.
He was believed to have refused the payment while investigating a robbery case brought to the police division in the state where he was the DPO, a circumstance that prompted the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission to honour him.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Governor Lalong praised the officer for doing the state proud, calling his actions “exemplary.”
The statement signed by the Governor’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Macham Makut said, “Governor Lalong while congratulating the officer for his honesty and patriotism to reject the temptation to participate in corruption and conceal crime, said he had made his family, Plateau State and Nigeria proud by his actions.
“Lalong said he was not surprised because the action of CSP Itse was in tandem with the Plateau spirit of diligence, honesty, patriotism and hard work.
“While urging him to keep the spirit and also continue to mentor others, the governor said by this singular act, the career of the officer was very bright in his quest to serve the nation.
“He also urges other officers and Nigerians in all sectors to emulate the exemplary conduct of CSP Itse which is one of the tonic that Nigeria requires to be transformed”
