The Lagos State University, has issued fifteen new indecent clothing guidelines for its students on campus.
This was disclosed by the interim Head of the Centre for Information, Olaniyi Jeariogbe, on Monday through a press statement.
According to the statement, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, had informed the College Provost, Deans of Faculties and Heads of Departments, as well as faculty officials on both the main and satellite campuses, to work together to implement the new dress code.
The Institution’s list of fifteen indecent dress codes prohibits wearing transparent dresses, tattered clothing, “baggy,” “saggy,” “yansh,” “ass level,” and all other types of indecent trousers. Other prohibited items include mini and skimpy skirts and dresses, dirty jeans with holes or obscene subliminal messages, transparent dresses, dirty jeans, and other clothing that exposes sensitive body parts, especially for women.
Others include body piercing and tattoos, wearing necklaces and earrings by male students, wearing necklaces and nose rings by students, tight-fitting clothing, rolling sleeves or flying shirt collars, obnoxious or seductive writing, improperly buttoned dresses, shirts without buttons, completely covering faces (very dark glasses), wearing face caps, and wearing necklaces and earrings.
The administration of the school also forbade male students from braiding, weaving, or gluing their hair or wearing distracting footwear like stiletto heels in the library and lecture halls. Poorly fitting footwear, untidy appearance, excessively fake or colored artificial hair, artificial dreadlocks, fixing of long nails as well as fixing of long eyelashes, brightly tinted hair/eyelashes/brown, and untidy appearance.
