The Israeli military on Monday issued a warning to civilians in Lebanon, urging them to distance themselves from areas associated with Hezbollah, as the Israel Defense Forces vowed to ramp up their strikes against the Iran-backed militant group.
According to the AFP, the spokesperson for the Israeli military,Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari made the rare public appeal during a media briefing.
“We advise civilians from Lebanese villages near or in buildings used by Hezbollah for military purposes, such as weapon storage, to immediately move to safety,” Hagari said.
He also warned that the IDF would be carrying out “more extensive and precise strikes” against Hezbollah, whose military infrastructure, he said, was deeply embedded across Lebanon.
Since Monday morning, Israeli forces have already launched a new round of strikes targeting Hezbollah sites. “These operations will continue for the foreseeable future,” Hagari added, highlighting the increasing tensions between Israel and Hezbollah in the region.
