Sporting Lisbon, head coach, Ruben Amorim has reportedly reach an agreement in principle with Liverpool.
According to Sky sports Germany, the three-year deal was verbally agreed upon to succeed Jurgen Klopp at the Merseyside
The 39-year-old contract was said to includes an exit clause allowing him to leave this summer.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich and Chelsea have also been linked with the Sporting boss.
The report revealed that a deal is still to be finalised between the two clubs.
It was learnt that Peter Smith and Melissa Reddy discuss the rumours surrounding Sporting boss Ruben Amorim’s potential move to Liverpool.
However sources at Liverpool debunked the report noting the reports are “wholly inaccurate”, adding that the club are undertaking a thorough process around a number of candidates.
They explained that a preferred candidate has not been identified.
Amorim, who was also on Bayern Munich’s managerial shortlist ahead of Thomas Tuchel’s summer departure, has an exit clause for this summer in his contract with Sporting.
Klopp had ealier in 2024 announced that he will leaving in the summer after almost nine years at Anfield, where he has won the Champions League, Club World Cup, Premier League, Super Cup, FA Cup and two League Cups.
The 56-year-old could still looking to add to his trophy archives with Liverpool second in the Premier League on goal difference with seven games still to play, while they face Atalanta in the Europa League quarter-finals.
