The Lord’s Chosen Church media team has responded to a viral video featuring one of its female members giving an unusual testimony, where she claimed to have disarmed armed robbers and escorted them to a police station.
The video, which recently circulated across social media platforms, sparked widespread mockery, leading to the trending phrase, “I am a Chosen,” in reference to the church.
In the viral clip, the woman mistakenly referred to the weapons used by her assailants as “AK-25” before being corrected by someone off-screen, who clarified that they were actually AK-47 rifles. This blunder further fueled the online backlash.
However, in an official response, the media team of The Lord’s Chosen Church dismissed the video as misleading and urged the public to disregard it.
They emphasized that the testimony had been taken out of context. To clarify the situation, the church’s TikTok account released the full version of the woman’s testimony, revealing that her account of overpowering the robbers took place in a dream.
The introduction to the full clip read, “Disregard the fake video circulating the internet just in a bid to discredit what God is doing. Listen to the full testimony here. She defeated the armed men in a dream.” The video was captioned, “Evil Projection in the leg averted: Defeated 4 Armed men in a dream.”
Meanwhile, Nigerian activist and outspoken critic Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has threatened to take legal action against The Lord’s Chosen Church over what he describes as controversial testimonies.
In a video posted on his Instagram page, VDM expressed his discontent with the church’s practices and called on the Christian Association of Nigeria to investigate the testimonies shared by its members.
VDM specifically referenced the testimony of the woman who claimed to have disarmed four armed robbers, including her misidentification of their guns as “AK-27s,” which the pastor later corrected to “AK-47s.”
He condemned the church for what he believes to be misleading claims, stating in his post, “CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA get ready for me ooo, this nonzenzzze needs to stop, now them don dey get spiritual iron for head Abi? All these chosen members.”
His criticisms have added fuel to the ongoing debate surrounding testimonies within the church, and his threat to take legal action has raised the stakes in the controversy.
