The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has commenced the payment of 13th month salaries to workers in the state.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, this was disclosed by the state Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatubosun,in Ibadan on Friday.
Olatubosun said that the workers have started receiving alerts for the payment.
He claimed that the administration headed by Governor Seyi Makinde had made a commitment on Wednesday to make the workforce happy by paying 13th month salary before January 2023.
The commissioner noted how Makinde’s administration, which took office in May 2019, continued to pay employees’ salaries despite the nation’s weakening economy.
According to him, the current administration would never jeopardize the welfare of public employees.
The state government, according to Olatubosun, is one of the few state governments that has consistently paid the minimum wage.
“One of the successes of the Seyi Makinde-led government is the uninterrupted payment of members of staff salaries.
“I recall also that Seyi Makinde has stayed committed to uninterrupted payment of salaries and 13th month salaries since he became Governor,” Olatubosun said
