Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has given approval to a the sum of ₦214.15 million for the reconstruction of the official residence of the state’s Head of Service.
The project, which has remained abandoned for several years, is slated for completion within six months.
This development was revealed in a statement on Wednesday by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, following the 14th State Executive Council meeting held on Tuesday.
Oyelade emphasized that the decision highlights the administration’s dedication to the welfare of the civil service and its leaders.
He noted that the residence, which had been in a state of disrepair, would be revamped into a modern and comfortable home, aligning with the state’s broader efforts to revitalize its civil and public service.
“The neglected official quarters of the Head of Service will signpost the respect this administration has, not only for the civil service but for its leadership,” Oyelade stated.
In addition, the council approved upgrades to the Iwo Road Roundabout and expanded the ongoing reconstruction at the Adegbayi Junction-Bus Terminal-Iwo Road Interchange on the Ibadan-Ife Expressway.
According to Oyelade, the expansion aims to ease traffic congestion during rush hours and alleviate flooding at the roundabout during heavy rains.
Furthermore, the council endorsed a statewide free medical mission targeting all 33 local government areas.
This initiative is designed to reduce mortality rates linked to communicable diseases and will offer services such as free surgeries, eye care, cervical cancer screenings, and health education.
“The medical mission is part of efforts to improve healthcare access and reduce mortality rates across the state,” Oyelade added.
