The Economic Community of West African States is set to lose three member countries—Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger—by 2025.
President of the ECOWAS Commission, Alieu Touray announced the development on Sunday during the 66th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Heads of State and Government in Abuja.
According to Touray, the withdrawal of the three nations is scheduled to take place between January 29 and July 29, 2025.
He noted that the timeline provides an opportunity for final mediations and potential diplomatic interventions to address the situation.
