An unidentified young man on Wednesday morning attempted to commit suicide on the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge.

In a video posted by the Lekki Concession Company, the man was rescued by patrol officers and passengers who prevented him from leaping over the bridge.

The reason for the attempted suicide is yet unknown at press time but the man was seen in a flood of tears as he clutched the bridge’s iron barricade.

Patrol officers who rescued him encouraged him, adding that he had a bright future before he freed himself from holding the grip of the bridge.

The young man has been handed over to the police.
