A tragic road accident along the Gbongan-Ife expressway in Osun State claimed the life of an unidentified man on Wednesday.
The incident, involving a truck transporting non-alcoholic beverages, was reportedly caused by brake failure, resulting in the driver losing control of the vehicle.
According to the Osun Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, another occupant of the truck sustained injuries and was promptly taken to the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife, for medical attention.
Confirming the accident, FRSC Osun Sector Commander, Adeyemi Sokunbi, urged motorists to ensure their vehicles are in good condition before embarking on journeys.
“Drivers should always check their vehicles before hitting the road and avoid excessive speeding,” Sokunbi said.
Providing further details, he stated: “The lone accident involved one truck. The cause of the crash was brake failure, leading to a fatal outcome. Two people were in the vehicle; one male adult sustained injuries, while another male adult lost his life.”
