Manchester United head coach,Ruben Amorim, has acknowledged that his side lacked sharpness in the attacking third as they fell to a 1-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest in Tuesday night’s Premier League encounter.
Former United winger, Anthony Elanga, delivered the decisive moment early on, finding the net in the 6th minute at the City Ground to sink his former club.
The loss keeps Amorim’s team in 13th place with 37 points, with United still struggling to string together consecutive league victories this season.
Speaking to TNT Sports after the match, Amorim expressed his frustration over his side’s inefficiency in front of goal.
“We controlled the game, but we already knew this team can score goals out of nothing,” Amorim said.
“When they scored we changed the game a little bit from what they wanted.
“We tried with good opportunities, but in the last third, the last pass, the last assist wasn’t there. Then if we don’t have that we cannot score goals.
“This season is like that. We had a lot of shots on goal, we pushed the opponent to the last third, but in the last third we had a lack of quality.”
United will now turn their focus to a crucial derby showdown against Manchester City this Sunday.
