Danish forward Chido Obi-Martin has been promoted to Manchester United’s first team as their third striker, joining Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Højlund.
Football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, shared on his X handle Wednesday that the 16-year-old is anticipated to receive some playing time in the ongoing campaign.
“As things stand, Chido Obi-Martin will actually be Man Utd’s third-choice striker for the new season, so he will see minutes with the first team, which is something that Arsenal could not guarantee,” Romano wrote.
This decision by Manchester United comes at a crucial time, given the current performance of their strikers, who have struggled to find their rhythm, with Zirkzee managing just one Premier League goal across six matches.
Obi-Martin made a splash in November 2023 by scoring 10 goals for Arsenal’s U16s during a remarkable 14-3 victory against Liverpool. Over the last season, the Denmark under-17 international netted a total of 32 goals in 24 youth team appearances and has trained with the first team.
