The ex-wife to the late king of Pop music and the only daughter of Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley, singer Lisa Marie Presley died at the age of 54years.
Lisa died in the hospital on Thursday after suffering an apparent cardiac arrest, “”Priscilla Presley and the Presley family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Lisa Marie.” Said a statement from the family.
Late Marie and her mother, Priscilla attended the Golden Globe Awards in support of the Baz Luhrmann film “Elvis,” days before she was hospitalised.
Born at the height of Elvis’s fame in 1968, Lisa was seen as the princess to the man celebrated as “the king of rock ‘n’ roll.”
Lisa’s parents separated in 1972 when the singer was just four years old, and she was only nine in 1977 when she lost her father who was 42 at the time of his death.
Lisa was a sole heir to her father’s estate, as well as his sprawling Memphis, Tennessee mansion Graceland.
Her desire to pursue a career in music rekindled her father’s legacy and this was launched with a debut studio album in 2003, “to whom it may concern,” which reached No. 5 in the Billboard 200 albums chart and was certified gold in that summer.
The late singer had four marriages which one of it was to the late popular king of the pop music, Michael Jackson and the four marriages produced four kids, three daughters and a son who died by suicide last July, at the age of 27.
