The Defence Headquarters has pledged to nab the murderers of 17 officers and soldiers killed in Okuama, Delta State, no matter how long it takes.
According to Vanguard, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, made this commitment during a media briefing following a joint security meeting in Abuja.
Musa likened the pursuit of the attackers to the lengthy manhunt for Osama Bin Laden, stating, “No matter how long it takes, we will find them. We will get them.”
He further assured that notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji, who has been using social media to intimidate communities and flaunt ransom money, will soon be captured. “Turji is a priority, and we will get him,” Musa said.
Musa urged communities in the North West to stop aiding terrorists by providing them with information, noting that a recent incident saw locals tipping off militants about stranded troops. “We need community cooperation to defeat these adversaries,” he emphasized.
The military, in collaboration with other security agencies and state governments, remains committed to safeguarding citizens across Nigeria.
Musa pointed to successes in the North East, North Central, and South East, assuring Nigerians that the armed forces are making progress in addressing the nation’s security challenges.
“We are not backing down. The Nigerian Armed Forces will continue to lead in ridding this country of its security threats,” he affirmed.
