In a shocking turn of events, a man identified as Samson, from Evwreni Community in Delta State, tragically took the life of his son and killed a nursing mother before being killed by an enraged mob.
According to Vanguard, Samson, whose other name was not known at the time of this report, committed these horrific acts in the early hours of the morning.
It was said that around 2 a.m., Samson violently ended the life of his toddler by smashing him to death.
The chaos escalated when, in the midst of the community expressing sympathy for his loss, he attacked and killed a nursing mother, Princess, who had stepped out to take her child to the toilet.
In the ensuing confusion, Samson also injured a man whose identity is yet to be confirmed.
A local source, preferring to remain unnamed, revealed that Samson had been displaying unusual behavior leading up to the incident.
He was reportedly scheduled for medical evaluation and treatment, but the tragedy unfolded before that could happen.
The source explained, “He smashed his toddler son, then macheted a woman who took her son out to the toilet to death and injured the youths in the process of trying to apprehend him. He injured more persons.”
Eventually, Samson was subdued by the enraged community. He was beaten severely, and in a brutal act of jungle justice, his lifeless body was set on fire along with his motorcycle.
Efforts to reach the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Edafe Bright, were unsuccessful at the time of writing.
However, a senior security official confirmed the incident, noting, “Before our men could get to the scene, the suspect had already been set ablaze.”
