Former Big brother housemate, Natacha Akide Popularly known as Tasha, has hailed the police over the use of teargas by its men to disperse fans of the late rapper, Ilerioluwa Olademeji Aloba, aka Mohbad, who converged at the Lekki tollgate on Thursday for a candlelight procession.
PUNCH METRO reported that the Lagos police said Muri Okunola Park in Victoria Island was the approved venue of the procession but after it ended at 8 pm at the approved venue as agreed with the organisers, some persons with ulterior motives converged at Lekki tollgate, obstructing vehicular movement.
The command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement shared via his X handle on Friday, said the use of teargas was a last resolve, stressing that the police and organisers of the candlelight procession pleaded with those who converged at Lekki tollgate to vacate the road for hours but they didn’t oblige.
While reacting to the development, Tasha knocked the mourners for violating the initial agreement with the police which limits the candle light procession to Muri Okunola Park in Victoria Island.
“We can all agree that the organizers of the event said you can all go home, everybody saw when the celebrities left, you saw everybody leaving, but some people decided to park themselves to Lekki toll gate.
“It’s not an issue to protest but a lot of people didn’t come out to protest yesterday…
“They started the event early and ended early but some people refused to go home, but you people wants to bring up issues when there’s no issue.
“Everyone came out for Mohbad and not to protest, they didn’t come out to continue ENDSars, adhere to the rules, that’s what we are saying.
“What was the police meant to do, are they supposed to fold their hands…” she said.
