More bodies of the accident victims who plunged into Omo River, along Ijebu Ode/Ore road on Saturday, have been allegedly recovered by local divers in the area.
Punch Metro had reported that a Toyota Sienna car plunged into the river on Saturday, near J4 in Ijebu East Local Government Area, along the Ijebu Ode-Ore expressway.
Meanwhile, three bodies had earlier been recovered immediately, as well as an injured passenger, who was recovered at the scene of the accident.
However, the spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Florence Okpe, who confirmed the incident, said the registration number of the car was APP830HX.
Mrs Okpe revealed that the suspected cause of the lone crash was overspeeding, which might have led to loss of control by the driver of the vehicle.
According to the FRSC boss, the injured victim was taken to Hope Clinic in J4, for medical attention, while the corpses were deposited at the State General Hospital morgue in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun state.
Okpe in another statement, said two more bodies had been recovered from the river by local divers, bringing the number of dead victims to five.
“Two additional dead bodies were found by local divers today,” she said in the statement.
