The Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, on Tuesday personally distributed subsidy palliatives to the less privileged in Awe, Keana and Obi Local Councils, to curb diversion by government officials.
Governor Sule, who was not satisfied with distribution of palliatives to the vulnerable, decided to personally hand over the items to the beneficiaries in the three councils.
The Governor bemoaned the criminal tendencies of some persons, who scam beneficiaries of palliatives, saying, “Some persons would remove part of the N5,000 given to each beneficiary, leaving them with N2,000 or N3,000.”
Sule issued stern warnings that he would not take it likely with anybody caught in such an act, and charged the beneficiaries not to allow anyone collect whatever they get from him.
He stressed that the 50kg bag of rice was from the Federal Government as a palliative measure to mitigate the effect of petrol subsidy removal, while the N5,000 was from the state government for the same purpose.
