The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has thwarted attempts by drug cartels to exploit recent protests in Nigeria to expand their operations.
This was disclosed by the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, in videos shared on X.com (formerly Twitter) on Sunday.
According to Babafemi, the cartels aimed to use the chaos of the protests as a cover to transport illegal drugs through land, sea, and air routes.
However, NDLEA operatives, equipped with intelligence, advanced technology, and sniffer dogs, were able to intercept their activities.
In a post accompanying the videos, Babafemi stated, “The drug cartels believed they could use the protests to rapidly move their products through all channels—land, sea, and air—but the NDLEA countered them with equal force, utilizing personnel, intelligence, technology, and sniffer dogs. These videos showcase some of our successes.”
