Nigerian-born New Zealand-based UFC Middleweight boxing champion, Israel Adesanya, has stated that Nigeria is ‘a corrupt country’.
He stated this while speaking on a Hotboxin podcast, on Tuesday.
“Nigeria is a very corrupt place. I love my people, but it is just that the government, everyone is finding ways to siphon money,” he said.
Recall that PUNCH METRO reported that Adesanya won Alex Pereira to reclaim the middleweight crown at the UFC 287 in Miami, United States of America.
He knocked out the Brazilian in the fourth minute of the second round of the bout, which took place at the FTX Arena, Miami, Florida, on Sunday morning, April 9.
Adesanya entered UFC 287 having lost to Pereira three times previously.
Adesanya’s victory over Pereira was his 24th in mixed martial arts.
The 33-year old fighter was paid $3.18 million for his fight against the Brazilian, making him the third current highest-paid UFC Fighter, behind Conor McGregor and Jon Jones.
