Renowned Nollywood actor, Femi Branch, has called for prioritizing talent over physical appearance when casting actors in the industry.
He also stressed the necessity of proper training for newcomers.
According to The PUNCH, Branch remarked on the industry’s growth, noting, “The influx of new talents into Nollywood has been significant. While we have seen many amazing new talents, the issue lies in professional conduct, which distinguishes the trained from the untrained.
“Recognition and opportunities should go to those who are both talented and trained, rather than those who rely solely on good looks and loose morals.”
Discussing his role in the recently released film “House of Ga’a,” Branch highlighted the challenges of portraying a real-life character. “Playing a real-life character is often more difficult. These individuals had families, friends, and enemies who knew their stories and mannerisms.
“An actor must work hard to make their interpretation believable to those familiar with the person. For the role of Basorun Ga’a, I had to immerse myself completely for about two months,” he explained.
