Manchester United started their preseason with a disappointing 1-0 loss against Norwegian side Rosenborg in Trondheim, Norway on Monday.
Noah Holm’s last-minute goal sealed the victory for the hosts in what seemed to be heading towards a goalless draw.
Erik ten Hag fielded a blend of young players and regulars like Marcus Rashford, Casemiro, Mason Mount, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, with several stars yet to rejoin the team following the European Championship and Copa América, both of which concluded on Sunday.
Czech goalkeeper, Radek Vítek, put on a standout performance for United, making numerous saves to keep Rosenborg at bay until Holm’s decisive strike, despite United being outshot 22-5.
After a challenging 2023-24 season where they conceded 58 goals and finished eighth in the Premier League, United are focusing on preseason preparations.
They face Rangers in Edinburgh on July 20 before heading to the United States for matches against Arsenal at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood and Real Betis at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego at the end of July.
Upon their return to England, United will host Liverpool in a final friendly at Old Trafford on August 3 before kicking off their competitive season against Manchester City in the Community Shield on Aug. 10, followed by their Premier League opener against Fulham on Aug. 16.
