The Interim Management Committee of the Nigeria Professional Football League has declared that the 2023–24 regular season will start on the weekend of August 26–27.
Early this month, the 2022–23 season came to a finish, with Enyimba earning their ninth league championship at the Super 6 playoffs in Lagos.
The IMC also declared that teams should start the club licencing process after the successful of the abridged season, which was required to fill the gap in the Nigerian league calendar.
The Clubs that qualified to represent Nigeria in CAF Club competitions are Enyimba International and Remo Stars for the CAF Champions League while Rivers United and Bendel Insurance will play in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The 2023-2024 NPFL season will revert to the normal season after the league organisers adopted the abridged format in 2023 to keep to the CAF deadline.
In related news, the NPFL transfer window will open on July 1 and expire on September 1, 2023, both on Saturday (today).
